Mark Your Calendars For These RI Holiday Events!

The holidays can be a great time to get out and explore our state. Rhode Island has so many events coming and here’s a small sample. We’d love to hear what your must-do list looks like for Christmas!

Ticketed Events

 Blackstone Valley Polar Express
Inspired by Chris Van Allsburg’s Christmas classic, this family favorite becomes reality during a 3-hour event that includes a 90-minute excursion on a real-life train with storytelling, sing-a-longs, games, delicious cookies, hot chocolate served in a collectible souvenir mug, and a special visit from Santa. Weekends from November 17th through December 23rd. Tickets are still available!

Festival Ballet’s The Nutcracker 
World class dancers perform in this holiday classic based on the story “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice” by E.T.A. Hoffman. PPAC – Tickets range from $23 – $85.

A Christmas Carol at Trinity Rep 
“New England’s favorite family tradition” celebrating 40 years of shows! The performance will captivate an audience of all ages for the 1 hour 45 minute show. Many options for shows from 11/18 – 12/31 with tickets ranging from $25 – $68. Discount code: 25OFFCAROL for 25% off!

Blithewold Mansion Sparkle: Bristol, RI 
Take a look at the link above for so many fun events through the holiday season at Blithewold Mansion! Marshmallow roasting with Christmas carols, horse-drawn carriage rides, afternoon tea parties, and so many more. Prices vary by event.

Chorus of Westerly Winter Pops 
December 16th & 17th various show times with tickets ranging from $26 – $70.

Christmas at Smith’s Castle
Live music, cookie decorating, face painting, bake sales, and so much more to explore. December 2nd & 3rd prices ranging from $3-$6 per person with a $20 family cap.

Edaville Family Theme Park Festival of Lights
From November 18-December 30, Edaville USA’s most memorable New England Tradition is back this year with over 17 million lights illuminating the park! You and your family can enjoy Edaville USA’s 3 Adventures in 1: Edaville Proper, Thomas Land & Christmas Festival of Lights sponsored by Hood® Eggnog (Seasonal), featuring over 90 rides & attractions!

Last but certainly not least… shopPVD Live with Providence Mom’s Blog and the Malted Barley, November 27th
That’s right I couldn’t leave out OUR event! (Insert shameless plug here). Come enjoy an evening of shopping with all of us from Providence Mom’s Blog. For $10 you can come join us in sampling delicious beer and pretzels while exploring the various vendors.

 

Free Events

Newport Holiday Stroll 
Free event to explore the many shops in Newport. A guided shopping tour is offered and while it’s free it does require registration and has limited capacity. Come explore the 200 shops as well as the carolers, local restaurants, and other live entertainment.

La Salette
November 23rd- Jan 1; 5:00-9:00PM Daily
300,000 Lights illuminating 10 acres. 
(Pro tip: Go on a week day, and don’t let the cold scare you! Bundle the kids up well, grab some hot chocolate, and avoid the crowds!)

Roger Williams Carousel Village Winter Festival 
Celebrate the holidays with the Roger Williams Park Crew. Come out to visit with Santa, ride the carousel, enjoy a train ride, see ice carvings and snack on holiday treats from noon – 3 December 2nd. From 4-8pm, enjoy horse-drawn hayrides through the park, holiday lights, Santa visits, and carousel rides. Food carts and other vendors will be on sight as well.

Winter Wonderland Pawtucket
Free event featuring 500 trees all beautifully decorated and other holiday activities.

Photos with Santa at Chepachet Farm 
Children can decorate a cookie, visit the petting zoo, sip hot cocoa and get pictures taken with Santa. Horse-drawn hayrides will be available weather permitting.

Wickford Village Festival of Lights 
Visit the website to see all of the fun activities during the Festival of Lights. Live nativity, an elf parade, music, ice sculpting, hot cider and santa…what more could you ask for? November 30th to December 3rd

Second Annual Smithfield’s All-Lit-Up Christmas Parade 
You had me at Christmas Parade! December 2nd 4pm parade starts at the Smithfield senior center and ends at Village Green with a tree lighting!
